Safety Tips

  • Traveling
    1. Always buy transportation tickets from bus or train terminals.
    2. Always be conscious of your belongling.Be extra careful when you are doing orther things, like reading a map.
    3. Leave your valuables in a secured place while traveling.
    4. Do not accept food or drink from stanger, especially while on board the bus or train.
    5. Do not test or take any forms of narcotics or engage in gambling. Thai laws impost heavy penalties for such violators.
    6. Do not accept any items from anyone,especially strangers.
    7. Do not follow stranger who offer you help in buying foods from shops. Typically, these strangers will ask for high commission fees
    8. Do not check in to suspicious hotels / lodges as they may pose danger to your life and belongings.




  • When Buying Gems or Costly Goods
    1. Do not believe in any street guides, taxi/ tuk-tuk drivers or anyone who offer to bring you to jewelry shops which offer sales warranties of significant shops.
    2. The Thai Goverment only owns the duty Free Stroes. Do not believe any other shops that claim to be owned by the Thai Goverment..
    3. Do not Believe in shops that claim to have sales items due to a Thai festival.
    4. Do not buy things from shops do not accept credit cards or shops that take your credit card for gold purchases and exchange them for gems.
    5. Do not allow shops to deliver your jewelry by postal mail for a promise of tax or loss protection since this is not possible.
    6. Do not buy gems from jewelry shops that guarantee refunds or promise to have the gems exchanged at the embassy or through their overseas agents.
    7. Should you sense any s behavior from any of these shops, please contact the Tourist Police Center at 1155.
    8. For problems on refunds of goods or gems from shops who claim they are state-owned, please contact the Consumer ProtectionAgency at 1166 or 0-2281-4540.
    9. Do not buy gems from jewelry shops without infromation about its source, condition and quality.
