The
work distribution
To maintain an efficient system, the Tourist Police have
distributed it's
various work responsibilities as follows:
- 1. Management:
1.1 office supervision, documents, meetings,
correspondence, and record keeping.
1.2 document history, public relations,
monitor any wrong doing by police officers.
1.3 administer salaries, food allowance,
per diem, health payments, children education, public utility expenses,
fuel, office materials, budgeting.
1.4 purchases, repairs to govermental property
such as cars, motor bikes and radio communication equipment.
1.5 maintain statistics of service to tourists
and criminal cases against tourists.
1.6 monthly planning , including festival
planning, seminars, aquisition of law documents pertaining to responsibilities
of tourist police.
1.7 mass communications- promotion of police
activities, and collection of publicity from the media related to toursit
police activities.
- 2. Investigate, news and forest team work
2.1 Investigation and news will have responsibility for investigation
with the goal of arresting criminals. To find information(news), research
criminal records, including all information about the case and information
from both the government and the private sector.
2.1.1 Gathering data about the tourist
industry such as hotels, guesthouses, tour companies, bus companies,
rental cars, taxis, song taews, and sam lor (bicycle taxi) , for providing
information
to the tourists and for helping in case investigation
is needed due to criminal activity.
2.1.2 Recording information, including
criminal picture book and criminal activity record.
2.1.3 Investigate and arrest criminals
involved in crimes directed against tourists.
2.2 Due to the popularity of Chiangmai
and it's adjacent province’s forests, the Forest Mission Group was
created to service tourists who travel in the forest by assigning
these jobs:
2.2.1Forest expedition to the popular
areas, including working with the villagers to understand tourist's
needs and be ready to help if necessary.
2.2.2 Help tourists in the forest when
they have a problem such as robbery or accident.
2.2.3Help the local police by providing
language translation for foreign tourists in case of they have a
problem
in the forest.
.2.2.4Analyze and collect information
about forest tour company's security plans.
2.2.5Coordinate the group that provides
service and safety for tourists who travel in the forest for river
rafting. the trip from Tha Dton village, Gog river, Tambon ThaDton
Amphur Maeeye Chaingmai to Chiangrai is very popular with tourists.
- 3. Manage the call center which is available to provide
police officers for any problem.
3.1 Keep records of tourist companies and tourists who travel to the forests.
Collect any feedback from tourists including complaints in order to
improve services.
3.2 The radio center has the responsibility
of radio, telephone and fax communications including receiving reports
and dispatching police officer's to areas where they are
needed.
3.3 Observation service is responsible
for crime prevention as well as providing for
general safety of tourists.
3.3.1 Patrolling areas which are popular
traveling destinations such as
- Chiang Mai International Airport- Police officers are on duty from
7:00 am untill the final flight at 11:30 pm.
- Chiang mai bus station (the second place) has Police Officers on duty
from 6:00 am until the final bus
arrival at 10:30 pm.
- Night Barzaar, Chang Klan Road which is extremely popular with tourists,
has police officers on duty
from 7:00 pm until closing at 12:00 pm.
3.3.2 Patrolling using cars and motobikes, the Police observe the places frequented
by tourists such as:
- Hotels, observing the area West of Ping river which has the majority
of hotels and guest houses.
- Bo sang, East of the Ping River which has a majority of the souvenir
stores.
- Train station- Responsibility of officers who patrol the Bo Sang area,
by observing train arrivals and departures.
- Special patrols by the junior officers of the police who take of tourists
when they have emergency problems, including special orders from the
commander.
